About Living Donation

  • How much does it cost to donate?

My insurance would pay for everything excluding your travel, lodging, and lost wages for time away from work. The National Living Donor Assistance Center provides financial assistance to those who have a willingness to donate, but are unable to afford those additional costs.

  • Can I still be healthy with just one kidney?

Research shows that living donors have no impact to their life expectancy as a result of donating. The human body is fascinating in how the remaining kidney will actually expand to compensate for the donated kidney. You can read more in this article by the National Kidney Foundation.

  • I want to get tested, but I have questions.

First, I appreciate your interest in getting tested. It means the world to me that you’re interested in possibly giving me the gift of life. You can visit my “Apply to Be a Living Donor” page at the top of this page, or the button below for more information and direct contact with the Living Donor Program for questions.

About Ann

  • What is your blood type?

My blood type is B+. I’m a match with blood types B and O; however, with the Kidney Paired Donation Program, my potential donor’s blood type does not have to be an exact match.

  • Are you currently registered on the National Transplant List?

At this time, I’m not. I’m currently in the process of meeting the requirements to be added to this list.

  • Do you currently have a donation page to receive monetary donations?

I do not. One may be created in the future, but the best way to support me at this time is to simply share my cause.
